Antonio Banderas

Antonio was born August 10th, 1960 in Malaga, Spain as Jose Antonio Dominguez Banderas. He has a younger brother, Francisco.

He attended the School of Dramatic Art in Malaga, Spain. He began acting in theater and television in Madrid and began acting in American films in 1992, with The Mambo Kings.

He was chosen by People magazine in 1996 as one of 50 Most Beautiful People in the World. His father was a policeman, and his mother, a teacher.

He wanted to play soccer professionally, but broke his foot at 14 and could no longer play.

He was married 8 years to Ana Leza (1988-1996). He is presently married to Melanie Griffith (May 14, 1996-present).


Antonio now has his own perfume/cologne brand for men called Spirit. Antonio supports the Real Madrid soccer team.

Antonio recorded "La Vida Loca" on the ECD edition of the Shrek 2 soundtrack with Eddie Murphy.

Antonio lent his voice to the very popular "Puss in Boots" character in the animated film, Shrek 2.

In Spanish, Antonio's surname means "flags".

Antonio only has one daughter, Stella del Carmen, with Melanie Griffith. However, since he lives with Griffith's children from 2 previous marriages (a boy and a girl), he usually talks about "my three children."

Antonio is a huge fan of Shrek.
